Bird netting

Whatever the weather, we get the job done!

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, your property can always have a problem with roosting birds. Aside from the mess these birds leave, there is the potential for diseases to be spread and parts of the building being damaged.

A long-standing customer had a problem with gulls and pigeons at its facility in Ilford, East London. The building’s roof has several large air conditioning units and expensive heat pumps on it, and these needed protecting. At the same time, the area had to remain accessible for maintenance.

Birds of a feather...

Those of you who follow us on social media will know that over the last few weeks we have had quite a few encounters with birds.

In the first case, I was called to a disused garage by a couple of concerned neighbours - they were complaining about a damp problem on a connecting internal wall. When I entered the property I was met by around 30 pigeons. They had been using a broken window to gain entry to the building and had found it the ideal place to breed and, of course, this results in plenty of unhygienic mess.

Check your netting for damage and trapped birds urges Cleankill

Facilities managers and property managers are being urged to check their bird netting following the recent high winds and stormy weather.

Cleankill Pest Control's Paul Bates says: “Birds can easily become tangled and trapped in damaged proofing which not only causes them distress but can lead to further damage to the netting. Holes in netting will also allow birds to get through and set up home.”
