On 24th and 25th June, Cleankill Pest Control again sent volunteers to help at The Supercar Event, held at Top Gear Testing Track, Dunsfold Aerodrome, Surrey. This annual event raises money for The Children’s Trust – the UK's leading charity for children with brain injuries.

Cleankill’s plucky group of volunteers were made up of Director Jon Whitehead, Technical Manager Chris Davis, Technician Richard Morgan, and Sales Manager Mike Williamson. Each of them spent a portion of their weekend helping at the event: Jon, Chris and Richard found themselves working on the pre-paid ticket desk, and Mike had a job working in the VIP area.

Hosted by TV personality and former Big Brother winner Craig Phillips and racing driver Nick Whale, the event brought together cars worth over £60 million pounds. Supercars at the event included the Pagini Huarya, Ferrari F40, McLaren 570GT, Ferrari 488 Spider, Ariel Nomad, Mercedes AMG GTR, Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, and the Lamborghini Aventador SV. In total, the event attracted 175 drivers who all gave their time, their cars, their tyres and their fuel, to help this amazing charity.

Across the two days, the event attracted over 20,000 paying visitors, who, in addition to looking at all the amazing cars, could pay £35 to be driven around the world-famous Top Gear Testing Track. Lucky visitors might even find themselves being driven around by The Stig, as happened to Richard!

The event was started when Richard Davis, inspired by the resilience of a 12-year-old girl, Becky Groves, decided to organise a group of Ferrari drivers to visit The Children’s Trust centre at Tadworth Court. Becky Groves, from Crawley, had been left unable to walk, talk, or do anything for herself, when her life support machine was switched off and she awoke from her coma. She was transferred to Tadworth Court, where she received a bespoke rehabilitation programme that has allowed her to improve to the point where she has achieved 16 vocational qualifications and a GCSE.

Since that first visit to Tadworth Court, Richard Davis’ event has now grown into a two day event raising around £120,000 annually. Since it began, the event has now raised well over half a million pounds.

Cleankill has long supported this amazing charity by raising money, helping redecorate the dining areas at Tadworth Court, and one brave staff member has even jumped out of plane to raise funds! To read more about our involvement, click here.
