South-East industrial site with a rodent infestation

Cleankill Pest Control was called to an industrial site near a railway line in South East England after employees reported seeing rodents and hearing noises in the walls.

Surprisingly there had been no history of rodent infestations at the site. It is common for sites near train lines to have mouse and rat problems because there is plenty of space along the banks for them to find harbourage.

Unwanted visitors can trigger mental health issues during lockdown

The lockdown has resulted in an increase in calls from residential premises to a London pest control company as people are spotting furry intruders and insects that would often go unnoticed.

Managing Director Paul Bates of Cleankill Pest Control says the mental health implications of having an infestation during lockdown when you can’t leave your home can be quite serious for some.

A department store with a mouse infestation problem

After allowing a major pest control company a year to sort out a mouse problem, the final straw came for a department store when a creature jumped from a suit pocket in front of a customer.

Part of the problem was the building’s construction: six floors of suspended ceilings – perfect hiding places for mice and other rodents - and a large number of cupboards stacked high with stock. Mice were living and breeding in the ceilings and cupboards unnoticed.

Under-floor cameras help to solve mouse problem

Raised flooring in office buildings - designed to create space for ducting and cables - provides the perfect space for mice. They can move around the building without being seen and then emerge through openings such as risers used to house electrical sockets.

Cleankill responded to a call from a customer with offices near London Bridge after staff saw mice running around on the carpet.

To help establish the extent of the infestation, a motion-sensitive camera was placed under the floor near one of the risers for two and a half days.

Cleankill removes rats and mice from equestrian centre in East Sussex

The Problem

Cleankill Pest Control was called to a residential property and equestrian centre in East Sussex.  The owner, Andy Melville, reported rats had been seen taking food from the bird table and digging burrows under the table. The bird table was situated near a pond in the large garden attached to the premises. In addition to this, mice were also found to be eating animal feed in the storage cupboards.
